Sheepshead and Double Sheepshead (Doppelkopf) are the games from which Skat was developed. They continue to be enjoyed in their own right, however, and are complements not competitors for Skat. While Skat is a more sophisticated and strategic game, Sheepshead and Doppelkopf are social and flexible partnership games playable by up to seven people.
